Without my trusty warming drawer, I would consistently overcook and dry out my foods trying to keep them hot enough to consume.  Before having the warming drawer, the microwave would turn all my meats into rubber as I tried to reheat them and my vegetables would turn to mush from overcooking.

Warming Drawers and Slow Cookers

The one thing my warming drawer doesn’t do is offer the functionality of a slow cooker.  There are new appliances on the market today with drawers that can keep your food warm and double as a slow cooker.  You can roast meat or uses controls to keep foods warm and moist.

Drawers that maintain a temperature to keep foods warm and prevent drying out can at times make crispy foods well, less crispy.  Some warming drawers offer different compartments that perform different functions.  Keep moist food moist and crunchy food crunchy.

Warming drawers are usually designed as separate cooking products.  They can be installed under existing cooktops or in a spot normally reserved for cabinet drawers to make it appear seamlessly integrated with your kitchen cabinetry.  You will have several options available to you when it comes to sizing and drawer capacity.

I imagine that folks like me are the norm when it comes to having food prepared at an exact time.  I’m lucky to have a warming drawer to keep meals warm until I’m ready for food, not vice versa.
