Granites and marbles normally are offered in ¾” (2cm) or 1-1/4” (3cm).  Sometimes it is just a matter of personal taste.  Some people like the thinner stone versus the 1-1/4” thickness.  If you are going to have a custom or detailed edging on your countertop, you will probably want to choose the thicker material.

Some in the stone business notice folks in the Northeast prefer 3cm slabs while folks in the South prefer 2cm.  When selecting your new countertops, be sure to know the thicknesses available and which you prefer.  Once the material is fabricated and cut specifically for your countertop, it is more than likely, non-returnable or refundable.
